Not all cats are equal in the Fine City, as some of our marvellous moggies have become local celebrities.

Whether they are interrupting services at Norwich Cathedral or laying claim to being the UK's oldest cat, some local felines thrive on their fame.

The Evening News' list of star cats of course features Rosie, that cat who celebrated her 32nd birthday on June 1.

Rosie lives in Peckover Road near Eaton Park with her owner Lila Brissett.

This year Rosie was sent some of her favourite salmon by John West – and she is currently waiting to hear if she is a Guinness World Record holder.

Sylvester the cat has been a city favourite for quite some time - with his missing tail, he is easy to recognise.

Sylvester hangs out at the UEA, and whether he is in a lecture hall or wandering the grounds he has quickly become a talking point for new and old students alike.

Pumpkin the Tesco cat shot to fame in 2019 after making regular visits to the supermarket giant's store in Thorpe Marriott.

He was posted all over social media when people hoped to catch a glimpse of him.

He was later banned from the store – but his owner insisted the friendly Tesco cat was causing no harm.
