From a pineapple under the sea to a celebration of Take That, these hit West End and Broadway musicals are coming to Norwich Theatre Royal over summer 2023.

1. Heathers the Musical

When: June 13-17 

Heathers is a black comedy rock musical based on the 1988 film and it is currently on a UK tour following two smash-hit West End seasons. 

Westerberg High’s Veronica Sawyer joins the beautiful and impossibly cruel Heathers and her dreams of popularity may finally come true.

But mysterious teen rebel JD teaches her that it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody.

2. Blood Brothers

When: June 27-July 1

Willy Russell's Blood Brothers is set in Liverpool and it tells the captivating story of twins who are separated at birth.

The pair meet again in later life with fateful consequences, with the show featuring stirring songs such as Marilyn Monroe, Bright New Day and Tell Me It's Not True.

3. The SpongeBob Musical

When: July 4-8

This musical is based on the hit Nickelodeon cartoon and it is on its debut UK tour following a successful run on Broadway.

The cast includes Pop Idol sensation Gareth Gates as Squidward and RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo as Plankton.

4. Annie

When: August 1-5 

The sun will certainly come out when the cast of Annie comes to Norwich this summer, which stars Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood as the tyrannical Miss Hannigan.

Set in 1930s New York during the Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.

However, her luck soon changes when she is chosen to spend a fairytale Christmas with the famous billionaire Oliver Warbucks.

5. Greatest Days

When: August 7-12

A show you will never forget is coming to the Theatre Royal this summer and it is a brand new production of Take That's smash-hit musical, previously titled The Band. 

The jukebox musical features more than 15 Take That hits and it follows five boyband-obsessed best friends in the 1990s who reunite more than 20 years later to see their favourite heartthrobs one last time.

6. The Bodyguard

When: August 28-September 2 

The Bodyguard is back at Norwich Theatre Royal by popular demand and this time Rachel Marron is played by Zoe Birkett (West End star and contestant on ITV's Pop Idol in 2001) and Frank Farmer by actor Ayden Callaghan (Emmerdale and Hollyoaks).

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.

It features a whole host of irresistible classics including One Moment in Time, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.
