A "park run style" paddle boarding event is set to launch in Norwich next month, which will be the first in East Anglia.

Norfolk Paddle Boards have teamed up with charity AquaPaddle to host a free 5km paddle through the city centre from The Red Lion in Bishopgate.

The paddle will be an officially timed event, with crew members out on the water for safety.

The first event will be held on June 11 and Norfolk Paddle Boards hopes to run the event every Sunday at 10am.

There are 30 slots available for the first paddle with 25 of those already filled, but this will grow as the paddle becomes more established.

Norwich Evening News: Owner of Norfolk Paddle Boards, Lee Taylor

Lee Taylor started Norfolk Paddle Boards in July 2020. He said: "I feel incredibly privileged to be chosen by the British Canoe Association and AquaPaddle as the first location in East Anglia.

"It is wonderful for Norwich to bring the city a step closer to being a top destination for paddleboarding."

Paddlers can register via the AquaPaddle website and canoes are welcome.

Norfolk Paddle Boarding will also be launching its first shop within Snowfit on Hall Road, with half of the store converted into stocking paddle boards and merchandise from Norfolk Paddle Boards and other brands.
