A man who tried to smuggle mobile phones, charging cables, SIM cards and drugs into Norwich prison will be sentenced in July.

Kyle Beard of Robeck Road, Ipswich, was at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday (May 19) for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

The 34-year-old admitted six offences of throwing or illegally conveying banned items into HMP Norwich on November 15 and 22, 2021.

The charges relate to 11 mobile phones, 21 SIM cards, four USB cables, eight phone charging cables, a battery, cannabis, four pouches of tobacco, seven packets of cigarette papers, six condoms and a bottle of superglue.

Judge Nicola Talbot-Hadley adjourned Beard's sentencing for a pre-sentence report until July 3.
