Norwich is famous for its independent shops and its winding shopping streets with places to buy one-of-a-kind vintage pieces.

However, the city's second-hand shops rival its fast-fashion offerings, with plenty of designer bargains waiting to be snapped up.

This list features some of the best charity shops for your next staple wardrobe item.

1. British Heart Foundation - London Street

This charity shop on London Street is one of Norwich's larger second-hand premises, with a huge selection of women's and men's clothes.

The shop also has a designer clothing rail, where volunteers pick out any high-end donations.

Expert tip: The shop sells its own British Heart Foundation-produced jewellery and gifts, so if you want to get some second-hand accessories it may be better to head elsewhere.

2. PACT Animal Sanctuary - Anglia Square

With there being a few PACT shops across Norwich, this particular one in NR3 can be a haven for absolute bargains.

Designer items I have seen - and in most cases bought - include Dolce and Gabbana and Chanel T-shirts, Diesel trainers, real UGG boots, and a Fendi monogram bag.

Expert tip: There are plenty of accessories, shoes, and jackets so don't overlook them.

3. Oxfam - Magdalen Street

Magdalen Street is a thrifters dream - with the long stretch of road having multiple charity and vintage shops. One of the best places to start is Oxfam.

Expert tip: This shop has a huge selection of women's clothing. It tends to have a lot of ZARA clothes and other high-street items. Although, if you look hard enough, you can still snag yourself a steal.

4. Nansa - Earlham house

If you like Italian designers Nansa has plenty to offer. Gems I've found here include a Versace dress and T-shirt and a Fendi scarf.

Expert tip: There is a large selection of jewellery and accessories here, with the manager also curating a carefully selected 'vintage' clothing rail.

5. Anglia Square

Anglia Square is one of Norwich's best areas to go second-hand hunting - with five charity shops all in close proximity.

Notable mentions include the Priscilla Bacon Hospice, the YMCA, and Scope shops in the area.

Expert tip: Patience is needed when visiting these shops, as it may take a long time to find the perfect item. However, when you find it - it will become one of the most-loved items in your closet.

6. Big C - Timberhill

This shop has a great selection of shoes, jackets, and skirts. They also have a large secondhand evening dress collection which is perfect for shoppers trying to find a stand-out piece for a formal occasion.

The shop also closed for refurbishment last month, reopening with a new look. The Big C in Timberhill was the first of the cancer charity's 11 shops to open in Norfolk and now shoppers can once again head in following its refurbishment.

7. Woodgreen Animal Sanctuary - Orford Place

This is another hidden gem, with many people missing this off their charity shop crawls due to its location.

Run by the Woodgreen Animal Sanctuary, which rescues animals and has featured on the Channel 4 series 'The Dog House' exploring the work their handlers, vets, specialists and volunteers do to give animals another chance at life.
