A major builders' merchant could be the latest firm to join a rapidly-expanding business park on the outskirts of the city.

Broadland Gate Trade Park in Postwick is currently home to a number of familiar companies including McDonald's, Lidl and Gridserve Electric Forecourt.

Those businesses could be joined by Travis Perkins, which has submitted an application for plot six at Broadland Gate.

The application, which was submitted on April 5 to Broadland District Council, proposes: "The construction of a unit for the storage, display, distribution and sale of building materials, with associated products, external display and storage of materials together."

The application also hopes to include a trade counter, ancillary offices and click and collect facilities.

The proposed site, measuring roughly 74,300sqft, is currently vacant farmland alongside the Gridserve plot and will also house 26 car parking spaces with an additional 10 spaces for light goods and public carrier vehicles.

A total of 10 new full-time jobs and five part-time jobs will be made available should the application be successful.

Work on a major Jaguar Land Rover dealership is under way in Maple Way, opposite the new Norfolk Constabulary offices.

Travis Perkins currently has branches in Lakenham and Hellesdon.
