A deserted city restaurant once focusing on sweet treats remains empty despite hope a new tenant could be revamping the unit in the coming months.

Dessert parlour Mindoro closed in 2019, blaming weeks of disruption to trade in the area after a chunk of cladding was blown off Norwich's Westlegate Tower - and has remained empty ever since.

At the start of the year Bidwells, which is marketing the Westlegate property, confirmed the site was under offer with a restaurant chain set to move in.

The business, which was said to have 100 restaurants nationwide, is still yet to be revealed.

It was hoped that the deal would complete by the end of February but, at the 11th hour, complications meant that news of who the mystery new tenant will be - and its progress - were halted.

Despite hope the unit would be filled soon, no update on the status of the move has been provided.

The former Art Deco-themed food premises, between Magik Clippers and Just Cards at the bottom of Westlegate, was previously the Wedding Party Shop and Just Jeans.
