The family of a well-loved Norwich teenager who died suddenly are appealing for help to give her one last loving send off.

Kaitlyn Lincoln, who was 17, suffered a seizure at home and was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) before dying at 6.45pm on March 9.

By the time Kaitlyn's seizure had ended she had gone into cardiac arrest and rushed to hospital,

But after learning that her lungs would not work without the use of a machine, her life support was turned off.

Kaitlyn lived in Earlham with her mum and dad, Kerry and Gary Lincoln, along with four siblings - Keiran, Courtney, Lucy and Zack.

Now with the help of a close family friend, a GoFundMe has been set up to help the family give Kaitlyn the funeral she deserves.

Mrs Lincoln, 36, said: "I'm very numb at the moment but I think after the funeral it will hit me.

"Anything donated would help pay towards the funeral costs and help let us adjust to things while we try to keep on top of bills.

"It would be a huge relief and would give us one less thing to worry about so we're not having to make a choice between having something for Kaitlyn's funeral or being able to pay the gas and electric."

Kaitlyn was born on October 20, 2005 and "loved to laugh" according to Mrs Lincoln.

She added: "Kaitlyn had an amazing sense of humour and was very crafty, so loved drawing on canvas and taking photos all the time.

"She was also very intellegent and was taking an online beauty course at the time, because she was great at doing people's make up and nails."

The GoFundMe, which was set up on March 10, has already raised more than £3,000.

Mrs Lincoln's childhood friend, Kirsty Green, set up the GoFundMe after "feeling helpless" for her long-time companion.

Mrs Green, who lives in Dereham Road and has four children herself, added: "No parent should have to say goodbye to their child.

"I can't put into words what I felt when I found out what happened to Kaitlyn - I felt so helpless.

"It was a shock to everybody and absolutely devastating for Kerry, Gary and Kaitlyn's siblings.

"There wasn't anything I could do to help make the family feel better, or fix the situation, so the GoFundMe was the only thing I could think of to try and do something for them.

"As a mother the thought of losing a loved one is awful to even think about, so if I can do this I hope it'll relieve some of the pressure for them.

"They're a lovely family and are always helping others so it's amazing the response it's received since I set it up and something they deserve.

"I couldn't believe the cost now for a funeral - it's not a sum of money you just keep tucked away.

"Kerry and the family are always there for people so it would be nice to try and return the favour."

There is no date set for the funeral yet but the family hopes to hold it at Colney Wood.

Mrs Lincoln added: "There are a thousand things I'd like to say but right now it's just too hard.

"Kaitlyn will be missed by all the family and her boyfriend Ben, who's recently moved in with us as well."

People can go to the GoFundMe to donate.
