A real page-turner is planned across Norwich next month, with the Storybook City Food Trail offering a range of delicious treats.

The themed event has been organised by Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) and will run from March 1 to 31 at 44 cafés, bars, market stalls and restaurants.

It celebrates Norwich as the City of Stories and its status as a UNESCO City of Literature since 2012.

It also coincides with World Book Day (March 2) and English Tourism Week (March 17 to 26) and follows the success of previous dinosaur and love-themed trails.

Taking inspiration from a variety of much-loved storybooks, venues are offering themed dishes.

This includes the Chronicles of Sarnia mega sandwich from The Bodega, Wuthering Bites from Grosvenor Fish Bar and a James and the Giant Peach Pizza from Eric’s Pizza in Yalm Food Hall.

The sweet treats include Bruce Bogtrotter’s chocolate cake from Figbar and Gruffalo-inspired rocky road from And Eat It.

Wash it all down with a George’s Marvellous Medicine colour-changing cocktail from The Last or a roaring Tiger Who Came to Tea cocktail from TipsyJar.

Included on the map is a ‘library pass’ and if customers collect six stamps, they can be entered into a prize draw to win an afternoon tea for two at The Assembly House.

Stefan Gurney, executive director of Norwich BID, said: "This is a business collaboration celebrating our food offer in the quieter month of March before the Easter holidays kick in.
