A pub that lit up the city's food scene with pop-ups hopes to make its own mark in Norwich through its new menu.

The Artichoke pub in Magdalen Road is launching its kitchen on March 3, serving bistro-style dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Its kitchen team is led by head chef Isaac Evans, who honed his skills at the award-winning restaurant Benedicts.

Harley Wright, pub manager, said: "We are really looking forward to feeding the people of Norwich with our fantastic food.

"There has been a lot of effort into getting everything ready this past month with lots of time spent testing dishes in the kitchen and sourcing the best produce we can.

"We've developed a menu we are really proud of."

The Artichoke has hosted a number of pop-up kitchens in recent years, including the successful XO Kitchen, which has since launched its own restaurant in St Georges Street.

More recently, Essex-based Stoked took up residency last summer serving vegan barbeque dishes but decided to leave the pub in November last year.

Since then, The Artichoke team have been making preparations to run their kitchen on their own terms.

From pork belly with seasonal greens to aubergine parmigiana, there is lots to try and the dishes can be accompanied by the pub's extensive range of craft beers and natural wines.

Mr Wright, who has managed the pub for the last two years, added: "We decided that it was time for us to run every part of the business so this is the next logical step for us.

Norwich Evening News:

"We are really looking forward to having people visit and enjoy spending time in our pub as much as we do."

The kitchen will be open from Thursday to Saturday between 5pm and 9pm and on Sunday from midday to 5pm.
