If variety is the spice of life then the Kidz Pop Party must surely be a family-sized chicken tikka must-seela.

Like a slimmed-down version of annual TV spectacular The Royal Variety Show, Joe Ringer and his small but talented team give us music, magic, comedy and dance.

Families who descended on the city's Maddermarket Theatre for some February half-term fun were not disappointed.

From the very start Pip Randelle, the show's compère and funnyman, got youngsters on their feet and encouraged them to let their hair down and the rest of themselves go.

Norwich Evening News:

Over the next hour and 45 minutes there were more than 40 songs from Joe, his band and the pop princesses.

From dance music to Disney and Abba to Ant and Dec as well as noughties favourites and classics like House of Pain's Jump Around, there was something for everyone - parents as well as kids.

Norwich Evening News:

But as Pip himself said: "We don't just have singing, we don't just have dancing, we don't just have tricks, we also have magic."

And he was not wrong - there was some popcorn throwing, disappearing shoes, reappearing rabbits, slapstick fun and games and even time for party dances like the conga.

Norwich Evening News:

Saturday was the final night of the feel-good show which landed in Norwich on Friday after performances at Gorleston's Ocean Rooms earlier in the half-term week.

The show finished with the Timewarp which gave a ghoulish glimpse of what is to come later in the year from the team behind family Halloween hit The Monster Club.

The Monster Club will perform their spooktacular show at the Norfolk Showground in Costessey from Monday, October 23 to Thursday, October 26.
