Norwich is well-recognised for its historic attractions, medieval charm and, more recently, its food and drink scene.
Among such foodie delights as Norwich Market, Yalm, and Junkyard Market, the city's pubs and restaurants have been cleaning up at national awards.
Here are five places in Norwich which have won or been nominated for awards in 2023.
1. Namaste Village
Namaste Village, in Queens Road, has been nominated as a finalist for the Best Vegetarian Restaurant category at the inaugural Nation's Curry Awards.
Though it hasn't won yet, the restaurant was delighted about the recognition, with business director Ketan Vaghasiya saying it is "a reminder that we should continue the path that we have chosen and one that has helped us bring happiness to people through food".
2. Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar
Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in January by food and drink ranking service Sluurpy.
The restaurant was also recently listed as a Tripadvisor's Travellers' Choice Award and has an 'exceptional' rating on OpenTable.
3. Spice Valley
Spice Valley Tandoori in Magdalen Street scooped up the prize for Most Welcoming Traditional Indian Restaurant in LUXlife's 2023 bar and restaurant awards earlier this month.
In 2021, the restaurant won the Best Customer Service category at the English Curry Awards and was shortlisted for Restaurant of the Year in 2022.
4. The King's Head
The King's Head in Magdalen Street was among the top four finalists for this year's CAMRA National Pub of the Year award.
The pub narrowly missed out on the top spot to a boozer in Staffordshire.
Ian Stamp, pub campaigns and chair of CAMRA’s Norwich & District Branch, said: “Competition for Pub of the Year is intense in the area, with several different pubs having won in recent years, and it’s great to see the King's Head and the city recognised at such a high level."
5. Ivy Norwich Brasserie
The Norwich branch of the Ivy Brasserie was named one of the most romantic restaurants in the country earlier this year.
It was featured in OpenTable's list of the 100 most romantic restaurants in the UK.
Reviewers praised the art-deco-inspired eatery for its "fantastic decor" and "great atmosphere".
