From selfies to scratchcards, a new cocktail bar and restaurant in Norwich is a social media dream with extravagant drinks and eye-catching decor.

Silhouette has just opened at the Timber Hill entrance to the Castle Quarter in the former home of Bourgee steak and lobster restaurant.

It has the wow factor before customers even step through the door, with strings of bright pink cherry blossom hanging across the entrance.

Inside is an Instagram-friendly pink paradise with neon signs, flower walls and plush seating with booths and birdcages.

While it certainly ticks the box in terms of style, the owners Carlos Magalhaes, 37, and Fabio Rodrigues, 26, place just as much importance on taste.

The pair have expanded into Norwich following the success of their Suffolk sister cocktail bar and restaurant Il Salvatore in Brandon, which opened in 2019 and sees people travel from across East Anglia to visit.

Mr Magalhaes said: "I believe Norwich was missing something like this - a lot of places do cocktails but not as we do.

"I love coming up with all the different inventions and we wanted to bring something magical to Norwich.

"It is definitely not just about the visuals as yes the place looks amazing, but what is the point if the things we are serving are no good."

While there are all the classic cocktails, many come with a twist including cotton candy, celebrity faces, a scratchcard or even a selfie attached, with prices ranging from £9.50 to £16 for the latter.

There are also burgers served in colourful buns, steaks, fish dishes, pasta, milkshakes and desserts, with a range of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and afternoon tea available too.

Mr Magalhaes added: "I fell in love with this location as soon as I came and viewed the place - I believe this venue matches with what we do perfectly.

"Come and give us a try you will be amazed - people have said they have never seen anything like this."
