The Covid-19 vaccine hub in Norwich city centre is set to move for a second time - to a stone's throw away from its original home.

The hub, where thousands of people have received their Covid jabs, was originally established in the food court of Castle Quarter shopping centre two years ago.

Since January last year though, the hub has been based within City Hall, for both walk-in patients and scheduled appointments.

But from Thursday, February 2, the service will once again be on offer in Castle Quarter, from a new location.

The new site will be based in the former Java store at the Castle Meadow entrance of the shopping centre.

The hub will have the same opening times as the City Hall site - Thursday to Monday from 8.30am until 4.30pm.

However, it will not focus solely on Covid-19 vaccines - also offering wellbeing advice and support.

Frankie Swords, executive medical director at NHS Norfolk and Waveney, said: "The Covid-19 vaccination programme has been hugely successful across Norfolk and Waveney.

"I am delighted that we can continue to support local people to have their vaccinations and at our new centre in Castle Quarter we will soon be able to offer a whole range of other health and care support that is meaningful to them at the same time.

"In the meantime, for those who haven't had their latest Covid-19 booster, please do come forward as soon as you can."

Further services that will be on offer at the new hub will include wellbeing support and health and lifestyle advice.

Kate Keeling, associate director of immunisation at NHS Norfolk and Waveney, said: "We are so thankful to all our colleagues, staff and volunteers who have been working tirelessly at City Hall to deliver the Covid-19 programme.

"We continue to urge people to take up the offer of the vaccine as soon as they are called forward."

Since the very beginning of the vaccine rollout, more than two million doses have been given to people in Norfolk.

According to the most recent statistics, just under three-quarters of those eligible for their latest booster have taken them up.

The City Hall hub is due to close on January 31, with the new centre opening two days later.
