An outer city bank is the latest to shut its doors for good following a string of closures around Norwich and nationwide.

HSBC in Mile Cross Lane will close on July 25.

Norwich North MP Chloe Smith and Hellesdon councillor Shelagh Gurney are working together to help those affected by the closure with pop-up events in Hellesdon to provide customers with information and help.

Affected staff will be relocated.

Ms Smith said: "I am very concerned that this branch is closing.

"Banking is changing, but it's really important that customers get all the information they need."

Ms Gurney added: "It is extremely regrettable that HSBC has decided to close this particular branch.

"The accessibility of the branch with its own car park held much appeal for those who did not wish to travel into the city centre for banking.

"With the threat of closure to the Post Office in Aylsham Road, this closure will undoubtedly have a significant detrimental effect.

"One city centre branch in a large city does not serve our urban residents well."
