A former ice rink and sports centre which has sat disused and empty for more than a decade could soon have new life breathed into it.
The site in Drayton High Road, formerly part of Norwich Sports Village, operated as Planet Ice from 2009 until it closed in June 2012 - and has remained vacant ever since.
Last year the site - known for its domed appearance - was under offer with Everett, Masson and Furby after being put up for sale in 2021.
The business agents, both at the time of offer and when the sale was completed, were unable to confirm who the buyer is, how much the site was purchased for or what their intentions are.
Shelagh Gurney, Broadland District councillor for Hellesdon and chairwoman of Hellesdon Parish Council, said: "It's been vacant for a number of years, which is regrettable.
"There is a missed opportunity there - but for what, I don't know.
"It remains unknown as to who has bought it and what they intend to do with it.
"As it currently stands, it would lend itself more to a place for indoor sporting activities.
"But who knows whether the new owners want to knock it down and start again.
"As Planet Ice it was a good place that people travelled from far and wide to come to but it was a very specialist offering.
"But from a community perspective, its closure never came across as a loss."
No planning application for the redevelopment of the site has yet been submitted to Broadland District Council.
Ms Gurney added: "Any regeneration or innovative opportunities for a building like the Norwich Sports Village are brilliant.
"It may be that we as councillors don't see any consultation until a planning application is lodged."
Work on the concrete structure started in 1987 and was completed in 1991.
The space spans around 25,000sqft internally, with sand covering the ground where the ice once was, with rink-side seating still in situ.
It is accessible via Drayton High Road and Boundary Road, alongside a Holiday Inn Express hotel, a David Lloyd sports centre and an Asda supermarket.
