Concerns have been raised over the circulation of a conspiracy newspaper, which has been posted through letterboxes of north Norwich homes.

The Light is self-published monthly and although the company behind the paper was dissolved in 2021, it still continues to publish and distribute.

Founded in 2020, it claimed the Covid pandemic was a hoax and has been criticised for spreading Covid-19 misinformation, antisemitic conspiracy theories and Holocaust denial.

The Light has previously been handed out in Norwich city centre.

Lucy Bennett lives in Hellesdon and - along with a handful of neighbours - received multiple copies of the publication.

Miss Bennett, 49, is a mental health nurse working with people with dementia and said she is upset about the circulation of The Light as it inflicts misinformation about Covid and other healthcare concerns on households, especially those who are older or vulnerable.

"I had two different issues delivered," she said. "It really infuriated me.

"I've been an NHS nurse for more than 20 years, and I would always advise speaking to your health professional and don't pay heed to these un-researched newspapers that come through the door."

Alice Macdonald, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Norwich North, encouraged those who had received copies of the publication to discard of it.

She said: "It's been flagged with me that people have had it delivered through their door.

"There is an issue with misinformation, and it's making sure that people are getting information about Covid and public health issues from official sources to inform them.

"I want to encourage people to go to those sources for information when it comes to health.

"From looking at previous editions, some of the information circulating around this is concerning.

"I've been contacted by various people in Norwich North who are concerned about this coming through their door and it's important to recognise those concerns.

"Another point is that you don't know exactly where it's been distributed.

"Although we're not in the same situation we were in in the pandemic when there was wide misinformation about the likes of vaccines, it is still important to not take a step backwards and focus on official sources."
