From caps to jackets, a new vintage clothing shop has opened in the city offering something for all budgets, sizes and styles.

Vintage Apparel launched on December 27 at 15 St Giles Street in the Norwich Lanes and offers menswear and womenswear with prices from £9.99.

It is run by husband-and-wife duo Myles Oakley, 64, and Sarah Perry, 56, who recently moved up from London.

Mr Oakley has many years of experience in retail and previously ran East End Thrift Store in the capital, which had concessions in places such as Selfridges, Topshop and House of Fraser.

His skills are paired perfectly with Mrs Perry, who is a retail designer that takes care of the branding and marketing side.

Mr Oakley said: "We had only been in Norwich two weeks when we spotted this shop and thought it was in a brilliant position.

"We wanted to bring something new to Norwich and also compliment other businesses to make this area really come alive."

Magdalen Street in NR3 already has a strong reputation for vintage shops, but this new opening means the Norwich Lanes is giving it a run for its money.

Vintage Apparel is just a few doors up from Slayyy Vintage and Taxi Vintage Clothing on Norwich Market is just a stone's throw away.

The brands on offer at the new shop include Carhartt, Patagonia, Nike, Adidas and The North Face with items such as jackets, t-shirts, jeans and even ski suits.

They are also building a database of people who can't find vintage clothing in smaller or larger sizes and Mr Oakley will then go out and actively source them.

He said: "The reaction so far has been overwhelming and on the first day we were so busy we had to stop people coming in.

"Everyone has been terrifically complimentary about the shop."

Mrs Perry added: "Once we've established ourselves, we would like to do events as we did in London like fill a bag for £10 or £20 at local venues."

The store is open 11am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm Sundays.
