The director of an award-winning Indian restaurant in Norwich is gearing up to launch a Bangladeshi coffee shop in St Benedicts Street.

Jahangir Ali opened Dhaba at Fifteen in Magdalen Street in 2018 and it went on to be named the street food restaurant of the year at the English Curry Awards 2019.

His new venture will bring something completely new to the city, with Mon Chai opening at the end of January in the former home of House café bar at 52 St Benedicts Street.

Mon Chai will be a Bangladeshi café and the drinks include Kashmiri pink tea and masala tea or coffee, with street food snacks.

The signage has now been installed by Norwich company Red Dragon Signs and the interior is almost finished.

Mr Ali said: "It looks completely different inside and we have used French panelling, velvet furniture and brass with an emerald green and light pink colour scheme - I am really happy with it."
