A chef who has worked at some of Norwich's most well-known restaurants has launched his own venture alongside his brother and wife.

Kamakazi Kitchen has opened next to the A140 in Alby, offering customers fusion dishes from cuisines around the world.

Sam Magar, who has worked at Roger Hickman's Restaurant and Yellows Bar & Grill at Carrow Road, has teamed up with his brother Chuck and the pair have 20 years of hospitality experience between them.Norwich Evening News: One of the dishes on offer at Kamakaze Kitchen in AlbyOne of the dishes on offer at Kamakaze Kitchen in Alby (Image: Kamakaze Kitchen)

The 39-year-old said: "It's been really exciting to open our restaurant and welcome customers.

"We had a really good start with lots of people coming in and we received some great feedback about the food."

From green Thai curry to confit duck pappardelle, there is a huge range of flavours to find at the restaurant.

And vegans will not be disappointed as there is an extensive plant-based menu which includes fish and chips.

"We really want to make sure we cater to all tastes, be it burgers, curries or pasta dishes," Mr Magar said. "It means that when people visit they can enjoy lots of different flavours and are not limited to one cuisine."

Mr Magar, originally from Nepal, spent 10 years working amid the bustle of Hong Kong restaurants before moving to Norwich in 2013.

"My parents used to run a hotel in Nepal. I learnt a lot from them and it really inspired me to become a chef and inspired my passion for cooking," he said.

"I love experimenting with different flavours and we are always coming up with new ideas for dishes.

"Coming up with the vegan menu was a challenge but it was something I really enjoyed."

The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday between noon and 8pm.

Prices range from £5 to £6 for starters and a main meal costs between £11 and £15.

Kamakazi Kitchen is a family affair, with Mr Magar's wife, Crystal, running the front-of-house.

Mr Magar added: "It's great to be working together as a family-run restaurant.

"We love seeing customers happy, that is all that matters to us."
