Concern that a closed down pub is becoming an eyesore has sparked plans for a community litter pick on a Norwich estate this weekend.
The litter pick in the Cadge Road area of North Earlham has been triggered partly to heap pressure on the owners of the boarded up Grove pub to take more care over that site.
Green Party Wensum ward city councillors have organised the litter pick for 2.30pm on Sunday (November 7) meeting outside the pub, which has been closed for more than a year.
Councillor Rupert Read said: 'Lots of people have been concerned about the amount of litter in the area and the litterpick is a great way show how much people in the community care about the issue.'
Fellow ward councillor Steven Altman added: 'We're doing this just to make a difference, but we're also doing it to put pressure on the owners of the Grove Pub site to tidy up the litter on site. The site is frankly in a pretty terrible state, and that makes it harder to keep the area as a whole in a tidy condition.
People can turn up on the day, but Mr Read said it would help him get an idea of numbers if people called him in advance on 01603 219294.
