Shoppers in Norwich will get to enjoy food from all over the world as part of a new market heading for the city centre this Easter.

Gentleman's Walk will host the all-new World Village Market, replacing the French Market that has taken place in recent years, between Friday, April 22 and Monday, April 25.

Organisers are now on the hunt for local traders who would like to take part with discounts on offer.

Paul Kennedy, from organisers Market Square Group, said: 'We are looking to create a market offering products that are unique to particular regions of the world and are cultural identifiers.

'We feel strongly that a local element is essential to add to the diversity of the products on offer, so are proud to be featuring a Best of British section.

'We hope that businesses in and around Norwich will come on board so we can offer our visitors a truly inclusive experience.

'We feel that Britain provides the most complete meeting place in the world with its strong heritage and mixtures of old and new. It also has one of the world's richest food cultures with dishes from India, Thailand, the Caribbean, South America and Europe providing ingredients to our nation's staple diet. Of course, we'd love to see some local produce on offer too.'

The World Village Market is a street market featuring exotic cooking, ethically traded, handmade, eco-friendly crafts, arts, clothing, jewellery and accessories, as well as live music and craft demonstrations. Norwich City Council senior events co-ordinator Vicki Blake added: 'The mix of products and activities is sure to really make the city centre an even more vibrant place to be over that weekend, so I'd urge as many traders as possible to get involved, and as many members of the public that can to go along and see what's on offer.'

Local traders wishing to participate should contact Paul Kennedy on 07944 599165 or email office@marketsquaregroup.com by Saturday, April 2.
