Wroxham and Hoveton Lions Club have been thanked for their generosity after presenting 5,000 of donations to two charities at their recent 35th anniversary charter luncheon.
Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help Norfolk and When You Wish Upon A Star - a Lincolnshire charity who provide once-in-a-lifetime wishes to seriously and terminally ill children - were both presented with 2,500 cheques.
The two charities are the pick of current president of the Hoveton and Wroxham Lions, Terry Vout, himself a former RAF electrician, raised through its tombola shop in Wroxham precinct last year.
Royal Navy lieutenant commander Stuart R. Fidler, who is the chairman of SSAFA Norfolk, said: 'I would like to thank the Wroxham and Hoveton Lions Club, and all the members of the public who have so generously donated to their fund raising events during 2010.'
