A charity providing opportunities for young people in Norfolk has got it's first ambassador.

Locally grown Joe Crowley, is a television presenter who has worked on a host of BBC television and radio shows including The One Show and Countryfile.

Yesterday he was announced as the first ambassador to join Open Youth Trust, to share his media skills with the next generation of budding journalists.

The former Hewett School pupil, said: 'I was thrilled to be asked to be an ambassador for Open and can't wait to start spreading the word about their work and sharing my experience of working in radio and television with young people living in my home city.'

He will be helping to spread the word about the charity's work and offering advice and guidance to youngsters that attend Open's Your Life programme, which aims to provide people with the confidence and skills they need to find employment.

John Gordon-Saker, chief executive of Open said: 'I first met Joe when he was part of the media team at Norwich City Football Club and I'm delighted that his television career has taken off. His time is very precious and I'm excited that he has chosen Open to be one of the charities he supports.

'I'm hoping that Joe will be the first of several new ambassadors to join our patrons, the Lord Bishop of Norwich, Rt. Rev. Graham James and the Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, Richard Jewson, in telling our compelling story.'

Open Norwich hosts a series of events and support groups and provides the city with the SOS bus. They offer youth services, host gigs and offers space for people to rent.
