Each week we put a Norwich resident in the hot seat and ask them ten questions about themselves. This week we spoke with Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, Claire Stevens.
• Describe Norwich in three words...
Home, history, fun. Apart from four years at university in Newcastle I've always lived in Norfolk, I love its heritage and it has many attractions so you never have to travel far to have a great time.
• If you were stranded on a deserted island with three other people, who would you want them to be?
My initial thoughts were my husband and two boys, however on second thoughts a seafarer, farmer and doctor would probably be more useful! Also I don't think I could cope with the kids whining.
• If you could be anyone else, who would you be?
The Queen. It's not a virtuous answer but I would love to see what her life is really like.
• How would you spend a perfect weekend in Norwich?
If the kids were looked after I'd take a canoe down the Wensum, stopping off at the riverside pubs with my husband, then I would visit Prime for a great steak and have an early night! The next day I would go clothes shopping as I never seem to prioritise getting new clothes for myself.
• Would you rather spend a night in front of the telly or a night out in the city?
Having two young children means I spend most nights in front of the telly but I definitely would like to increase the evening outs.
• What's your mantra in life?
Don't cry over spilt milk - dust yourself down and move on. It's not worth worrying about the past.
• Which song defines your life?
I will survive by Gloria Gaynor, as I have positive outlook on life and whenever the chips are down I know things will always get better.
• What's your biggest fear?
My worst fear is that my children will be hurt badly. When my little boy was four he broke his femur falling off a swing in Spain and my fear became a reality.
• What one thing could you never be without?
I couldn't live without chocolate! But it has to be Cadbury. My husband once bought me a very expensive box of chocolates from Switzerland and I hated them.
• What would you do if you won the lottery?
If I won a ridiculous amount of money I would obviously splash out on lots of luxuries but I would also give a large slice of money to charities that help support adults with autism to get into work and stay in work.
