Norwich road closed for the next few days for flood repair work could affect Royal Norfolk Show traffic

Visitors heading to the Royal Norfolk Show are advised to avoid the Hellesdon Road area after flooding damaged the road.
Heavy rain on Monday caused the area to flood and damaged the road surface.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: “There is a grill at the end of the pipe to prevent litter going into the river.
“The amount of rain that fell on Monday washed through with it a lot of litter inclding bottles and crisp packets.
“This contributed to blocking the grill and meant the water couldn’t flow through as freely as it should.”
This blockage in the system caused pressure to build up which led to part of the surface to lift.
Hellesdon Road was closed yesterday between the Marl Pit Lane junction and the Hellesdon Hall Road junction and will remain closed for the next two to three days.
Anglian Water will be carying out repair works on the surface, and diversions will be in place in the meantime.
The spokesman said: “We know road closures are going to be disruptive and we are sorry but we do need to carry out this repair and diversions will be clearly signposted.”
