As tens of thousands gather in central Cairo for a seventh day of protest against President Hosni Mubarak, calling for a general strike hundreds of Britons make their way home from the protest-hit country.
Foreign Secretary William Hague has warned that Egypt is in danger of falling into the hands of extremists as tensions in the country build.
The military have been staging a show of strength in the face of mass demonstrations calling for the end of the President’s three-decade rule.
The trouble has resulted in more than 100 deaths to date with travellers branding the streets unsafe. Those coming back to the UK from Cairo have spoken of their “frightening” experiences and relief to be home from the Egyptian capital.
