Geoffrey Green is reliving his early 'scooter boy' days having bought another Lambretta and lovingly restored it in retirement.

This is me with my first pride and joy at the tender age of 17 – a 1962 Lambretta LI 150 Series 2 scooter.

It took me from school to college and – accompanied on occasion by the odd attractive passenger – on many jolly trips around the country.

Eventually I had to trade it in and buy my first car – a Ford Anglia 105E – which was followed many other cars over the years.

While cars were, from then on, my preferred form of getting around I always had the hankering to get back on the road as a 'scooter boy'.

That opportunity finally arose when as I approached retirement. I saw an advert for a certified original 1964 Italian Lambretta LI 150 'Special Edition' Series 3 scooter. It was looking rather forlorn and obviously seeking a good owner as it needed some considerable TLC at that time.

It was love at first sight and, after three years of careful and loving restoration, (it helped that I happen to be a fully-qualified mechanical and electrical engineer) I am now the proud owner and runner of this fine example of transport history, now finished in English rose and cream, as she is 53 years old.
