Eaton council tenants in Norwich will have to wait a little longer to get window replacements
Eaton council flat tenants who were told the replacement of their rotten windows was a priority are still waiting and have been told it will take another 60 days before work can start.
As reported, tenants launched a petition two months ago calling for the windows to be replaced – after waiting several years for the work to be done.
The flats in Plantsman Close, off Lime Tree Road, are the only properties on the street that have not had their windows replaced.
A Norwich City Council spokesman said at the time that replacing the windows at the flats was a priority, but the tenants are still waiting.
Elizabeth Green, who lives in one of the flats, said: 'When the council said they were prioritising us, we thought that it would be only a matter of time.

'But we have now been told that we have to wait while another 60-day consultation is carried out.
'This consultation started on Monday, August 15, so it won't be finished until October. We have been waiting nine years for these window replacements and they keep telling us it's going to happen. The windows are a disgusting mess and we don't want to have to wait until the winter to get them replaced. In the winter they run with water, and you get up in the morning and cannot see out. There is black mould in the putty that you can't get out.'

Mrs Green has brought in Norwich South MP Simon Wright to help with in her fight and has collected about a dozen signatures on a petition calling on the council to replace the flat windows as soon as possible.
Earlier this year, contractor Anglian Windows replaced the bungalow and house windows in the street, but planning permission was needed to replace the windows at the flats, and a consultation had to be carried out with the leaseholders.
A Norwich City Council spokesman said yesterday: 'We have to hold a statutory consultation as part of the procurement process to make sure we have a completely fair appointment procedure for contractors. We are currently consulting leaseholders as part of this process and this is a legal requirement.
'These windows do need to be replaced and have been marked as high priority. Homes on Plantsman Close will be programmed in as some of the first to be replaced as soon as the new window replacement contract is in place.'
