The British Superbike Championships are coming to an end – and the final rounds are crucial for two of local teams with major titles at stake.

RAF Regular and Reserves Superbike rider Jake Dixon is in with a good chance of lifting the title after a superb weekend at Oulton Park.

Dixon secured pole position during qualifying, but a crash in Sunday's warm-up saw him start from the back as the team rushed to get his bike ready.

Their hard work was rewarded as he fought from 23rd to take fourth place, setting the fastest lap along the way.

Race two was looking to be a Dixon benefit as he took pole position and led the race for the first 10 laps.

Unfortunately, his choice of tyre turned out to be the wrong one and he finished the race in sixth position, although he still moved up to fourth place in the championship.

Morello Racing's Danny Buchan's fortunes turned around in the Superstock 1000 class.

In very tricky conditions he went head to head with his nemesis Richard Cooper, but just as a win looked possible, one brief moment meant he was forced to settle for second position.

On Sunday, when the lights went out Buchan made his intentions clear – that only a win would do and when he crossed the line he was more than six seconds ahead of Cooper in second place.

The title goes to the wire at Brands Hatch, with Buchan holding a 15-point lead and needing to finish only in fifth position if Cooper wins.

Fraser Rogers took a ninth and an 11th while Jordan Weaving took a 14th and his best result of the year, a sixth place.

In the Superstock 600 class, Thetford's Ryan Vickers rode a brilliant race to take second in atrocious conditions.

However, that result was snatched away from Vickers due to a technical infringement regarding clutch springs. A subsequent appeal against that infringement was turned away.

Norwich's Grant Newstead was having a great race but he became a victim of the poor conditions and crashed on lap seven, although he managed to walk away uninjured.
