Nineteen-year-old Jack Tritton from North Walsham is a young man who has no intention of letting the grass grow under his feet this year.

He has set his sights on both the British F1 Sidecar Championship and the British Super One Kart Championship.

Tritton's family own the Karttrak Centre at Cromer where he is both track manager and coach in the business.

Last year Tritton partnered the late Barry James for three wildcard rounds of the British Sidecar F1 Championship where they scored podium places at all rounds.

They also secured the British Motor Cycle Racing Club's F1 Sidecar title with ease at Cadwell Park and then a fortnight later took three wins at the final round at Snetterton.

Tragically later that month James, from Retford, lost his life in a road accident.

James, 31, a married dad-of-one, died at the scene of a collision between his motorbike and a car on October 24.

Tritton's thoughts were obviously with his late partner and his family - but he later made the decision to concentrate on his ambitions to try for the Kart Championship with his Senior Rotax 125cc kart in 2018 until he got a call from Doncaster's Simon Gilbert,

He was looking for a passenger for his 2018 challenge for the British F1 sidecar title which he is running under the Draper Racing banner.

Apart from one round at the end of September there are no date clashes so Tritton has jumped at the chance to compete on both three and four wheels this year.

Gilbert made his return to the British Superbike paddock at the final round at Brands Hatch last year but despite a good showing it ended up with a big crash and his passenger decided it was time to call it a day.

At just 18 years old at the time, last year Tritton was the youngest passenger in the BSB paddock and now he is already a well respected and experience passenger looking forward to taking on the top teams in the British Championship sidecar racing world with a driver who is more than capable of beating them with their Draper sponsored Yamaha outfit.

If this young man's plans succeed then they are going to need a bigger trophy cabinet at home for all the silverware he could end up collecting in both championships.
