Organisers called off the original meeting because of a poor weather forecast and following consultation with drivers – a decision which proved to be a wise one as Sunday saw a mixture of snow, sleet and rain fall all day.

The rescheduled meeting – which will be the 25th staging of the Icebreaker - will take place on Saturday, starting at 1pm. The vast majority of drivers have reconfirmed their bookings and there are currently 93 Unlimited Bangers booked in over 26 teams.

Dave Vincent's (Brandon) Team 22 are defending champions and are going for a record fourth victory in the Unlimited Banger Icebreaker.

Other recent winners aiming for more success include Team Bash, headed by local man Darren Fendley (King's Lynn) but also fielding top Irishman Steve McGrath (Dublin)), and 160 Shayn Winsor's (Wymondham) VS Massive, who are certain to be big contenders.

But it's not all about the overall winners. The day's entertainers' league is just as prestigious and will be all about getting stuck in and having a good crash to entertain the crowd. Callum Hall (Leicester) led the Bears B to success last year with a top-drawer performance. Promoted to the A line-up this year, the top entertainer, nicknamed Oddjob, will be aiming for back-to-back triumphs.

Candidates to stop the Bears? There are plenty, but no better bet than Team Sowter/Filmer, recently voted the team of 2017 by fans nationwide, who won the entertainers' section of the War of the Worlds last year. They are led into battle by Taylor Sowter (Horley).

Then there are the Shunters – runners-up in the entertainers' league of both the Icebreaker and the War of the Worlds last year; they will be aiming to go one better this time around. Look out too for the Wild Boyz.

The legendary Steam Team are also returning to an event they have won three times, as well as finishing runners-up on eight occasions.
