Great Yarmouth`s Kyle Ella took the junior men`s championship and Nastassja Potgieter was a convincing winner of the junior women's 6km championship. In a competitive under-17 men`s event Ashley Waterson eventually built up winning lead over Bruce Beckett in the 6km event.

Luke Spear was also a clear and convincing winner of the under 15 boys' 4.9km championship.

Tracey Curl, competing for the City of Norwich club, took the veterans women's title. In the younger age groups Nelly Porter looks to have lots pf promise after winning the under 13 girls' event.

The courses for the Norfolk championships were over large laps of the gently undulating Euston Hall estate near Thetford. The championships were very ably organised by the Thetford Athletics Club.

As a result of these championships teams will be selected to represent Norfolk in the national Inter County championships at Birmingham in March.

There has been talk of cooperation between Norfolk and Suffolk in the organisation of county championship events. The races at Euston Hall may go some way towards this since technically the event this year was actually in Suffolk.

Norfolk`s competitors in the London Mini Marathon will also come from these championships.

The Norfolk Schools cross country championships will be held at Sloughbottom Park in Norwich on January 22.

The Norfolk indoor championships will be at Lynnsport, King's Lynn on January 26.
