Thousands of students wearing fancy dress are taking to the streets of Norwich with decorated wheelbarrows for a long-running University of East Anglia fundraiser.
The Pimp My Barrow event is now in its 11th year, with 350 teams coming up with outlandish ways to decorate wheelbarrows - and themselves - in the name of charity.
The event raises vital money for Norfolk and Waveney's cancer charity, Big C.
Students converged on campus in the university square to showcase their creative designs, which are then judged.
After prizes are awarded by Dr Chris Bushby, chief executive at Big C, the students move onto Eaton Park for a wheelbarrow race, before a pub crawl into the Golden Triangle - and often beyond.
Dr Bushby said: 'It never ceases to amaze me what can be achieved with a wheelbarrow and a ton of imagination! The support shown by the students is overwhelming and their contribution makes a very significant difference to the 22 people that every day are diagnosed with cancer across Norfolk and Waveney.'
Over the past four years alone, Pimp My Barrow has raised more than £40,000 for Big C, helping to improve the lives of local people affected by cancer.
The funds went towards 62,455 support and information sessions provided to those living with cancer.
Of that figure, 7,862 people were able to access Big C's talking therapies where people are given the opportunity to discuss any issues or worries they may have following their or their family member's cancer diagnosis.
Joseph Zilch, UEA activities and opportunities officer, said 'Pimp My Barrow is one of the highlights of the UEA calendar and our students count down the days to the event.
'It means a lot to them to raise as much money for Big C as possible, they see it as their way of giving back to the local community.'
