The Lord Mayor and Sheriff of Norwich have shown their support for Norfolk domestic abuse charity Leeway.

Visiting the Norwich refuge, mayor David Fullman and David Walker got a first-hand look at the work the charity does across the fine city.

Leeway chief executive Mandy Proctor gave the tour, giving them an insight into what life is like in a refuge for the women and children living there.

Ms Proctor said: 'The work we do in partnership with the city council is really important and helps to impact the lives of people experiencing domestic abuse.

'For them to see what goes on in a refuge environment, it adds some perspective and insight into the work we do.'

Leeway has five refuges across Norfolk, offering a place for women and children fleeing abusive relationships, supporting them to rebuild their lives.

In the past year, Leeway has supported nearly 9,000 adults, children and young people across all services.
