Three friends who have been running together for four years have signed up to run this year's Virgin London Marathon with cancer charities.

Cancer survivor Nicola Beevis, 45 from Old Catton will be running the marathon in April with her sister, Emma Howard, 40 and friend, Simon Boyd, 37.

They received places to run for Teenage Cancer Trust, Children with Cancer UK and Cancer Research UK.

Mrs Beevis had previously set out on a running challenge and got as far as raising £1,000 before being diagnosed with cancer in 2015.

She said: 'I am so grateful that I'm still here to tell my own tale of being a cancer survivor and raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust makes me feel very humble because they do so much to help young people through such terrible times.'
