People living in the Great Yarmouth area have been warned to prepare for the possibility of overnight flooding by the Environment Agency.
Two flood alerts been put into force for the town and surrounding areas, relating to the tidal River Yare from Thorpe St Andrew to Breydon Water and the tidal River Waveney from Ellingham to Breydon Water.
The alerts state high water levels are to be expected due to natural tide locking at Great Yarmouth, restricting the normal drainage out to see of the Broads system at low tide.
High water is due at Great Yarmouth at 12.15am On Friday, at which point the risk of flooding is at its greatest.
The alert, which was published on the Environment Agency's website, said: 'Levels can take several hours to peak in the Broads in response to incoming tidal waters. Remain vigilant.'
