Twenty three students from Paston Sixth Form College went to the annual Student Politics Conference.

The event was held in the plush and historic surroundings of Westminster Methodist Hall, London just over the road from the Houses of Parliament.

The students, accompanied by teachers Dave Sparkhall and Joan Cherry, took the opportunity to listen to, and question, leading politicians from all parties, including John Bercow, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Simon Hughes, the Liberal Democrat deputy leader, and George Galloway, MP for Bradford West and founder of the Respect Party, whose provocative opinions divided the hall.

More than 2,000 students from all over the country were present and the budding politicians and sociologists thoroughly enjoyed themselves listening to the ideas and policies of these political luminaries.
