A playgroup has moved to a new home, providing a more central location in the village and better facilities.

The Rackheath Bombers Playgroup was previously based at the village hall, in Green Lane West, but has moved to new premises at the village primary school in Willoughby Way.

Julie Scotton, a committee member with the playgroup, said the old facilities at the hall were difficult for parents to reach easily, so the group had been looking for a new site in the centre of the village, especially as new estates were being built.

So when two new classrooms and a room for a playgroup were built at the primary school, the committee and staff put in a tender to use the extended facilities.

She added: 'We are all really pleased with what has happened. We are running to capacity and this year we have got a new influx of children. A lot of work has gone into it from committee members.'

The new home has provided the group with an office, as well as better toilet facilities and a kitchen, though a more central location was the main motivation for the move.

Mrs Scotton added: 'It is easier access for the playgroup. We have not got to jump in our cars and drive to the other side of the village.'

The Bombers meet from Tuesday to Friday, including Thursday afternoon and the children attending the group, which has been active in the village for more than 40 years, participate in a range of activities, including singing, dancing, storytelling, indoor and outdoor play, listening to music and arts and crafts.
