Police said a drink driver whose car landed on its roof following a crash was lucky to escape with minor injuries.

The Norfolk and Suffolk roads policing team said the accident happened on the A149 at Repps-with-Bastwick, near the Norfolk broads, at 8.30am on Saturday.

In a Twitter post, it said the driver provided a positive breath test and enquiries were ongoing.

Sgt Chris Harris said the male driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The roads policing team Twitter post said: 'Officers on scene single vehicle RTC A149 Repps-with-Bastwick. Driver lucky to escape with minor injuries and has provided a positive breathtest. Enquiries now ongoing.'

Norfolk fire service initially sent crews from Marham, Stalham and Great Yarmouth to the scene. But they were stood down before arrival.
