A teenage boy has suffered serious head injuries after being attacked with an iron bar in a Norfolk village.

Police were called to Sir Edward Stracey Road in Rackheath on Wednesday night (December 6) following reports of an assault.

The victim was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious head injuries and remains in care.

It is understood that he was struck with an iron bar.

Officers have since arrested a teenager in connection with the incident. He has been taken to Aylsham Police Investigation Centre to be questioned.

Police said the attack took place shortly before midnight.

A seal was put in place at an address in Back Lane in Rackheath, but had been lifted by Friday morning.

Neighbours have spoken of their shock after the attack.

One woman said: 'We are keeping our fingers crossed for him. He's ever such a nice young man.

'We know he's been taken to Addenbrooke's with a blood clot.

'We didn't hear anything on the night.

'It was only when we woke up the next morning that we saw all the police cars here.'
