People are being urged to stop dropping chewing gum on the streets of Norwich after a noticeable rise in the city.
One Norwich resident said: 'Walking through the streets of Norwich I notice everywhere there are lots of white spots of chewing gum, over the surfaces of streets, pavements and underpasses. I think it is high time the Norwich City Council spent some time on cleaning our 'Fine City' up.'
A city council spokesperson said: 'Our contractors work hard to keep the streets of Norwich clean and safe for the people that live in the city, work here and visit us.
'What we really need to help us combat the problem of chewing gum and other litter in the city is for people to take responsibility for their rubbish and dispose of it considerately. There are plenty of litter bins in the city centre or people can take their rubbish home.'
Norwich mother Vicky McGaughey said: 'Keeping things nice and respectful is important. Chewing gum shouldn't just be dumped.'
