Plans to build a new shop in Drayton have been recommended for approval by council officers.

Applicants Hurn Capital, James Ewles and 30 Cattle Market Street are seeking to build the unit on Hurn Road.

Planning papers submitted to Broadland District Council state the application site is currently used as a parking area for a nearby hairdressers.

The application does not say what the unit will be used for, but states there will be an 'open sales area' and small 'tea area.

Drayton Parish Council objected to the plans, stating the car park is inadequate for the proposals.

Council officers recommended the plans for approval, subject to a number of conditions.

They include limiting hours of operation to 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

Broadland's planning committee will discuss the application on January 31.
