The former lead singer of a chart-topping British band is returning to a city venue after a sell-out gig last year.

Tom Meighan was the vocalist for Kasabian from 1997 to 2020 and during this time the act earned multiple awards.

After leaving Kasabian, Meighan launched a solo career and performed at Epic Studios in Magdalen Street last April.

Two support acts, The Mercians and Norwich-based Youth Killed It, opened for the singer.

He is going on tour in the UK again later this year and is returning to Epic on October 8 where he will perform songs from his Reckoning album.

A spokesman for Epic said: "As the lead singer of Kasabian – helping sell more than four million albums - Tom Meighan’s unmistakable vocals are a central component on timeless tracks like Fire, Club Foot and Shoot the Runner.

"Tom fronted headline festival shows across Europe - including Glastonbury, Leeds and Reading - and won NME, Q, and Mojo awards as well as a Brit."

Meighan was sacked from Kasabian in 2020 after admitting assaulting his then-fiancee.

Tickets costing £26 per person will go on sale on Epic's website on Friday at 10am.
