Norwich folk have their say before derby clash with Ipswich

Ipswich will travel north of the border looking for their first win over the Canaries in almost 15 years but with plenty more to play for.

The Tractor Boys are top of the Championship table and Norwich are chasing a play-off place in sixth - making it a tough result to predict.

Gary Butcher, 48, from The Ice Cream Parlour at Norwich Market, said: "Ipswich are a stronger side at the moment, so maybe it favours Ipswich, but Norwich have everything to play for and nothing to lose.

"They are at home, so maybe that swings it towards Norwich. So, maybe down the middle in a draw - but as a Norwich fan, I am going to go with Norwich."

Sharon Bowles, from Cringleford, has been busy chatting with Canaries fans at the On The Stall City shop at The Forum this week.

"We're doing really well at home so it's really hard to say," she said.

"I think maybe a draw but I don’t think we’ll lose."

Jazz Singh, 46, from Indian Feast on the market, said: "Obviously living in Norwich and with my kids being Norwich fans, hopefully Norwich are going to win!"

Pepa Mora, 23, works at Izola barbers in the Royal Arcade and is nervous for City.

She said: "I think Ipswich are going to win, probably 3-0, or 3-1."

Bob, from Combat Zone on the market, is also worried and fears Town are on their way to the Premier League.

He said: "Ipswich will probably beat Norwich, but I don’t really want them to.

"It’s just the way they are playing form-wise."

Life in April 2009

Ipswich haven't enjoyed the taste of derby day victory since April 19, 2009, when they won 3-2 at Portman Road. 

The Canaries have enjoyed a 13-match unbeaten run since then and much has changed since the Tractor Boys last had the local bragging rights. 

Back then, Gordon Brown was still prime minister and still a little more than a year from losing the election to David Cameron's Conservatives.

Lady Gaga topped the UK album chart with her debut record The Fame and animated film Monsters Vs Aliens was the top film, knocking the fourth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise from number one.

Scottish singer Susan Boyle was also on her way to international stardom, after her rendition of I Dreamed a Dream on Britain's Got Talent sent shockwaves around the music world.

British military forces had also begun bringing an end to six years in Iraq ahead of handing over control to the USA at the end of the month. 

And the BBC were fined £150,000 by Ofcom for the Andrew Sachs voicemail scandal, involving offensive messages left by Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross.
