A local football club is urgently looking for a new home after being told the contract for its current ground would not be renewed.

That has left the future of Norwich CBS looking uncertain as club bosses revealed it could fold in a statement on social media.

The club - which was Spixworth FC until 2017 - has been playing at Norfolk Football Association's Football Development Centre (FDC) in Bowthorpe.

However, a club statement revealed: "It is with great disappointment that a few weeks ago we were informed by the FDC Norfolk that they would not be renewing our contract at the ground for the next season or beyond.

"Despite the disappointment in the decision we would like to thank the FDC for giving us the opportunity to play at the ground for the last seven seasons.

"With that said this decision has left us in a very difficult position and quite honestly the future of the club is very much at risk.

"If we are unable to find a suitable resolution then the likely outcome would be that the club will fold at the end of the season."

The club started playing at the FDC after winning the Anglian Combination Premier Division title in 2017, which saw them promoted into the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League - at step six of the non-league pyramid.

A club spokesman said that the ideal scenario now would be to form a merger with another team or to find an investor.

"We want somewhere that we can call our home for more than seven seasons," said club secretary Craig Collison.

"We have drummed up a bit of interest so far but very few local clubs have the facilities we need.

"The league that we play in is very costly and the funding will be hard to get."

The team - currently in mid-table in First Division North - has been financially supported by the club's chairman, Mark Collison, for the last few seasons after the FDC banned sponsorship at the ground.
