Motorists will be spared a planned closure of the B1150 North Walsham Road tonight (Friday, July 21), thanks to the early completion of surfacing at a new Norwich Northern Distributor Road roundabout last night.

The road will be clear of disruptive traffic management over the weekend, but temporary lights will be in use as needed next week (from Monday, July 24) for work on verges, traffic islands, paths and signs.

During peak hours the lights will be manually controlled, but as work progresses they will mainly be used outside the busiest periods.

On Buxton Road, Spixworth, gas main diversion work will continue over the weekend and through next week under 24-hour traffic lights. This work is expected to be complete on Friday, July 28, when the signals will be removed.

This was scheduled to take place under a two-week closure from August 7, but that has now been put back until later in the month.

The priority is to complete the closure before schools go back in September.

Holly Lane, between the B1149 Holt Road and Reepham Road, has now permanently closed to all traffic, including pedestrians and cyclists. Heavy plant has already started on a drainage lagoon and is tracking across the lane.

The new route between Holt Road and Reepham Road is along New Drayton Lane, which opened yesterday.
