Wymondham and Attleborough Talking Newspaper (WATN) chose the 19th anniversary of its audio news and information service for people with sight loss to launch an appeal for more volunteers.

The group would particularly like to hear from anyone who would be interested in taking on one of the 'behind the microphone' editorial or sound recording roles.

The first edition of the weekly news digest was sent out on 10 April 1998 and the 1,000th edition will be recorded in November.

The team of 40 volunteers also produces a monthly audio magazine and has recently taken on the task of recording an audio version of the Wymondham Town Council quarterly publication, About Wymondham.

WATN secretary Georgette Vale said: 'In order for us to continue this level of output, we would like to add to our team of editors and sound recordists. It would mean an commitment of two to three hours per month.'
