UEA LCR, Norwich

When New York trio We Are Scientists played UEA's LCR earlier this year they were practically bottom of the bill on the NME Awards Tour.

Last night they headlined the venue and they didn't have to share the sold out crowds adulation with anyone.

Knowingly nerdy they arrived on stage to the strains of Phil Collins' Against All Odds - it was a classic ironic 'Lighters in the air moment'.

That soft rock interludes out of the way, they romped through most of their recent album, With Love And Squalor.

Like their nearest UK counterparts Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand their music is all angular guitars and disco beats.

Highlights of the set included the energetic Nobody Move Nobody Gets Hurt and It's A Hit.

And they most definitely were.
