This year the Wreningham pantomime ‘Treasure island’ will see honest, law-abiding citizens taking to the stage as hostage-taking, thieving pirates led by Raf Silver as Long John Silver.

The action takes them from The Admiral Benbow in Plimsole, to the Spanish Main aboard the Hispaniola in search of Blackbush’s treasure. Landing on a desert island, they encounter female natives led by Queen Tittycaca, played by last year’s director Val Keel, and who have their own unsavoury reason for preventing them from leaving.

The pantomime has been written and directed by Ashwren Drama Group member Bob McClenning who elaborated on his show: “I’ve always been a fan of Treasure Island and during our last production it dawned on me that we already had the principal character in Raf Silver.

“We have the cream of local talent acting their socks off and with the usual and unusual Dame and Principal Boy looking simply gorgeous, the production gives a laugh a minute with great visual gags and enough grown-up humour to ensure that it will give everyone a great night out.”

Treasure Island is showing at Wreningham Village Hall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 16-18, at 7.30pm, with a matinee on the Saturday at 2pm.
